As expected, given a local news report that ran in December, the unsigned North American roster Afterthought has been acquired by the Susquehanna Soniqs, an organization that is based out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Matthew “Satthew” Ackermann, Chris “Dappur” Mendoza, and Nathan “Shock” Frommelt will represent the Soniqs in Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 9, which begins league play this weekend. Manager Lucas “MitsEvoX” Frommelt has also joined the organization alongside the players.

Dappur is a longtime pro who competed in RLCS Seasons 3-5 under Selfless Gaming, Renegades, and Counter Logic Gaming, respectively. Satthew competed in the RLCS in Season 7 with Spacestation Gaming, but was dropped following the season. The duo paired with Shock on Aftershock for the Rival Series this past season and won out in the promotion playoffs to earn a spot in the RLCS. Given their history in the league, there’s sure to be a lot of fans eagerly anticipating their return in Season 9.
The Soniqs aren’t a very well-known organization at this point, but they also field teams in Rainbow Six Siege, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, and Apex Legends.
