This summer will see a bunch of updates coming into Rocket League. Psyonix has made an announcement this week that outlines their plans. Here’s a look at all the things that are coming to Rocket League over the course of this summer.

New Premium DLC

At the end of May the seventh competitive season will come to a conclusion and players will get their rewards the same day that season eight kicks off. Psyonix will also add a brand new arena as well as new in-game music in May.

For June there’s a summer-themed in-game event planned with various exclusive items that haven’t been revealed yet. We will also see the release of a new licensed premium DLC. The theme for that DLC has not been announce, so stay on the lookout for that.

July will be a special month for Rocket League as the game celebrates its birthday. This means that Psyonix will kick off a big anniversary in-game event that will feature a lot of throwback items for long time fans of Rocket League.

Rocket Pass and Progression 2.0

Psyonix is also changing the way players level up in the game. The “Progression 2.0” update, as Psyonix calls it, will remove the level cap of 75. Going forward, every level up will require the same amount of XP and grant players items. This progression system is similar to games like Overwatch and could be an interesting change to keep players motivated to grind. A new “Rocket Pass”, a feature that seems inspired by Fortnite, will also be a way for players to earn free and premium content as they level up.
